How well does your State rate on the Fertility Report Card?
When I was looking on Resolve.org, the National Infertility Association (great website for resources), I noticed that on their scrolling stories today they had something called a “Fertility Scorecard” (tagged as “how fertility friendly is your state”). I automatically went to Texas, who was ranked… a C.
Texas, where “everything is bigger”… one of the leaders in medicine, are ranked a C?!? We only have 15 RESOLVE support groups, FIFTEEN in the whole state, how is that even possible? I would think at least 100 or more. And then, this blew my mind, we only have 97 Fertility Specialist (doctors) in the state. Again, mind blown. I live in Houston and we have the amazing, medical district, so how are there not over 1,000 fertility specialists?
So, this got me thinking, what state received an A, or even B…because frankly, a C sucks. And in looking at the list, only 5 states received an A, that is only 10% of our great nation…that is unacceptable.
So, how do you get an A? And what can I do to help get Texas to an A or even a B? Take a look at the Fertility Scorecard and see how your state ranked. Hit us up on social media and let us know if your state’s grade shocks you too…
