Did you know that infertility does not just affect couples that have never conceived… there’s also something called
Secondary Infertility refers to a couple’s inability to conceive a baby, even though they’ve had at least one child in the past, either together or with a previous partner.
This can be very frustrating and an emotional journey for these couples because maybe it was easy to get pregnant the first time…or maybe is was more difficult but it ended up happening, but now it’s not…
Also, sometimes the pressure a couple feels to “give their child a sibling” is overwhelming but maybe they do not have the financial means to go through fertility treatments again. The support of those around them may be less apparent because “they already have a child” but their desire is to have more children.
Whatever the reason, Secondary Infertility is very real, very emotional, very common and a journey that affects over 3 million women in the US*
